Sri Lanka, earlier known as Ceylon is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean in South Asia.
It shares marine borders with India to the northwest and to the southwest with Maldives. This tropical island has a rich historical background. It is in Sri Lanka that the real soul of Buddhism is developing rapidly and successfully. Sri Lanka is known for its untouched natural beauty in abundance.

It has around 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites within an area of 65,610 km. It has long stretches of beach in a coastline of 1,330 km.
Sri Lanka also has 15 national parks that shelter exotic wildlife and is known for having the highest density of leopards in the world. Lush greenery in the form of tea-estate covering an area of 500,000 acres and 250 acres of botanical gardens can be seen in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka'’'s culture is more than 2,500 years old. It was also famous as Serendib, Taprobane, and the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. The South – East Asian island nation of Sri Lanka is unique in many ways. Ancient ruins of over 2,000 years, timeless temples, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the oldest tree ever planted by a human, and ssive elephants everywhere!
